Editorial policy

This page explains how our content is produced: who writes and checks it, where the numbers come from, what we deliberately never do and how to report an error.

Polis Online helps you quickly compare offers from Kazakhstan insurers and buy a policy online.

If you still have questions, write or call our contact centre: we explain the quote, how the policy is issued at the insurer and what to do when a claim happens. We do not issue policies and do not take payments — that happens on the insurer's side.

Who writes and checks the content

Car-insurance material is prepared by the site's editorial team; calculations and legal wording are reviewed by Arnur Erkenbayev, a financial expert with experience in Kazakhstan's banking and microfinance sector. Every article names its author and carries a publication date — plus an update date when the piece has been revised.

We do not display an “expert-reviewed” badge where the author and the reviewer are the same person: self-review is not an independent quality signal.

How we select insurers

The catalogue lists insurers holding a valid licence from the financial regulator (ARDFM) whose policies are registered in the Unified Insurance Database. There are no paid placements: card order is not for sale and we award no “recommended” badges — we have no methodology that would justify one.

For compulsory OGPO, comparing insurers on price is meaningless: the tariff is set by law and identical to the tenge. So the cards show what genuinely differs — agency rating, years on the market, mobile app and how the policy is issued.

Where our figures come from

OGPO pricing follows the formula in the Law on Compulsory Motor Third-Party Liability Insurance: a base rate of 1.9 MCI multiplied by the territorial coefficient, vehicle type and age, driver age and experience, and the bonus-malus class. The MCI value comes from the national budget law for the current year.

Financial-strength ratings are quoted from the international agencies that issue them (Fitch, S&P, Moody's), with the agency named. Market figures come from ARDFM data. If there is no verifiable source, we do not publish the number: there are no invented “prices from” or made-up ratings on this site.

What we never do

We do not conclude insurance contracts and do not accept premiums — payment always happens on the side of the insurer or a partner service. We are not an insurance company, insurance agent or broker.

We promise no “discounts” on a compulsory policy, we do not collect national ID or document data in on-site forms, and we do not publish testimonials that cannot be verified.

How we make money

The service is free for the user. We earn commission from the partner services through which voluntary and foreign products are arranged: OSAGO for trips abroad via GreenGo. The travel-insurance section is an independent directory of Kazakhstan insurers: its links go straight to their official websites and are not affiliate links. We receive no commission from Kazakhstan insurers and have no agency agreements with them.

This does not change the policy price for the user: tariffs are set by the insurer and, for OGPO, by law.

How to report an error

If you spot a wrong figure, an outdated rate or an inaccurate product description, write to info@polisonline.kz and name the page. We check reasonable reports, correct the text and update the revision date. Regulatory values (MCI, payout limits, coefficients) are revisited whenever the legislation changes.
