How much OGPO costs for a foreign car
In Kazakhstan the OGPO price is set by law, not by the insurer: the base premium of 1.9 MCI (8 218 ₸ in 2026) is multiplied by coefficients. For a vehicle temporarily entering Kazakhstan the territory coefficient is 4.4 (Law No. 446-II, art. 19 p. 5), a passenger car adds 2.09, temporarily entering vehicles get bonus-malus class 13 (coefficient 0.5), and the policy term applies a reducing coefficient from 0.2 to 1.
Guide prices for a passenger car up to 7 years old and a driver over 25 with 2+ years of experience:

For a driver under 25 or with less than 2 years of experience the premium is 5–10 % higher; for a car older than 7 years add another 10 %. The tariff is identical at every Kazakhstani insurer — no intermediary can sell below the statutory price.
For what term the policy is issued
By law the contract for a temporarily entering vehicle covers the whole stay but not less than 5 calendar days (art. 13 p. 4). The 0.2 coefficient applies “up to 15 days inclusive”, so 5-day and 15-day policies cost the same — take a margin for the drive home.
The fine for driving without OGPO is 10 MCI — 43,250 ₸ in 2026 (art. 230 of the Administrative Code) — plus full personal liability for accident damage.

Do I need a Kazakhstani policy if I already have Russian OSAGO?
Yes. Russian OSAGO covers liability only inside Russia, and the Green Card is not valid in Kazakhstan — the country is not part of that system. A foreign-plated car must carry an OGPO policy from a Kazakhstani insurer, registered in the Unified Insurance Database, at every checkpoint.
What is the minimum policy term for a foreign car?
By law — 5 calendar days, and the term must cover the whole stay. The 0.2 coefficient applies “up to 15 days inclusive”, so 5-day and 15-day policies cost the same; insurers usually offer 15 days, one month and then monthly up to a year. If you stay longer, the policy is extended online — no need to leave the country.
